Novell Accounts
(application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document - 12.35K)
All those who work with Student Development will be assigned their own Novell accounts. This is simply to ensure the safety of the campus network and protection of our data. Those students who are given shared drive space will be able to save their data to the campus M:\ Drive.
Requesting Accounts:
Staff members requesting a Novell account for their students in their areas need to submit an email to James Ward (wrdjg@appstate.edu). The email needs to include the students first name, last name, ASU ID name, and what M:\ drive access they need.
Account Lock out:
Novell accounts will be locked upon students leaving his/her position. Locked accounts will remain on the network for audit purposes (or in case of the event the student returns). All data saved on the M:\ drive will be lost after deletion of the account. The student is responsible for the data and should remove it if it will be needed at a later time.
Reporting Students:
It is the department's responsibility to contact the system administrator as soon as the employee leaves.
Student Usage Policies:
Students are responsible for upholding and following all guidelines set forth by Appalachian State University's Computer User Agreement, as well as any other policy set forth by individual departments. Students should be aware that internal audits may be performed at ANY TIME. Data on the M:\ drive is property of Appalachian State University and misuse or distribution of information is strictly prohibited. This includes the downloading and sharing of copyrighted material .
